Lockhart Chemical Company, since 1982, has been manufacturing additives which provide superior protection solutions for formulators of functional fluids and coatings. Below are six technologies to help you create higher quality products for metal protection and metalworking applications.
Ingevity's Tall Oil Fatty Acids (TOFA) are primarily used by customers as a base chemistry for derivatization. Specifically, in the metalworking fluids industry, they are used to create esters as lubricant additives. The benefits of using TOFA include:
Sun Chemical, a member of the DIC Group, is a leading producer of printing inks, coatings and supplies, pigments, polymers, liquid compounds, solid compounds, and applications materials. One of the products Sun Chemical began manufacturing in the 1990s are light color, low odor, sulfurized extreme pressure (EP) lubricant additives.
SONGWON Industrial Co Ltd introduces the latest addition to their range of antioxidants for fuels and lubricants, SONGNOX® L570. SONGNOX® L570 complements SONGWON’s broad Aminic, Phenolic, Phosphite and Thioester antioxidant product range, further extending its breadth and depth. Aminic and Phenolic antioxidants retard oxidation in the oil by reacting with and stabilizing radicals produced in the lubricant; with Phosphite and Thioester antioxidants decomposing hydroperoxides.
Kao Chemicals Europe provides key surfactant technology for modern metalworking formulations that are crucial for water miscible fluids. Two additives provided by Kao, AKYPO® RO 50 VG and AKYPO® RO 90 VG, are co-emulsifiers and lime soap dispersants with long alkyl chains (C16-18) and a moderate to high degree of ethoxylation.
Join Sea-Land and our suppliers at STLE's Annual Meeting & Exhibition for the Commercial Marketing Forums. The Commercial Marketing Forums are an opportunity for companies to highlight their latest company news and product innovations. Diacid 1550 is a multifunctional product made from sustainable materials and renewable resources. It is resistant to bioactivity, yet still biodegradable. It is globally recognized in the metalworking fluid industry as an excellent co-emulsifier with sulfonates in soluble, semisynthetic and synthetic metalworking formulations. Diacid 1550 also offers corrosion inhibition to protect various surfaces and increased lubrication, particularly in aluminum forming applications, which truly makes it a multifaceted product. Adding Diacid 1550 to your formulation provides corrosion inhibition, co-emulsification and excellent lubrication—ultimately helping you do more with less.
New Twists on Metalworking Fluids
Neutralizers and twist compression tests are putting an unexpected spin on fluid development. Read our technical resources manager, Ted McClure's remarks in the December Lubes'N'Greases magazine;
When you need the right chemical right away, it's about more than finding a great distributor. It's about great products and knowing you'll get the solution you need. Since 1981, Sea-Land has partnered with BASF (formerly Cognis) to supply our customers with a wide range of lubricant solutions. BASF is recognized globally for their innovative spirit and ongoing pursuit of sustainability. By focusing on renewable chemistries, BASF has created a lineup of versatile products to meet your needs.
SeacoChem ProHear Oil
Sea-Land Chemical Company announces the release of high erucic acid mustard seed oil. Mustard seed oil, derived from the same family as rapeseed and canola vegetable oils, provides similar lubricity properties as traditional high erucic rapeseed oil. The 22% erucic fatty acid content (C22:1) offers improved lubricity over many conventional C14 to C18 fatty acid based vegetable oils and seed oils.
